Twelve Tags of Christmas

Well, it's that time of year to follow Tim Holtz at http://www.timholtz.typepad.com with his wonderful techniques and inspiration, he's kicking off another year of the Twelve Tags of Christmas.
What makes it even more exciting this year is that The Scrapbook Store (where I happen to work), in Greenfield, Wisconsin, is following Tim's blog too! You can view all the hoopla at http://www.scrapbook-store.com So today I'm posting my version of the First Tag of Christmas inspired by Tim Holtz!
You do not need to have all the product that Tim uses, just use what you have (you'll be amazed at how resourceful you will become as the days progress). For this tag I used two Quickutz dies, the picket fence and the Halloween house (2009), Instead of the technique Tim used to create his house, I used a embossing folder (Quickutz) but did not cut it apart. I brushed over the entire house with a Peal Metallic Paint Dauber (Ranger), inked over that with Distress ink (Rusty Hinge, Ranger) and then took my white Signo pen and darkened the embossed lines to give the house that 3-D effect. I didn't have the Prima product, so I used a paper bag section  twisted and distressed to make my tree (an idea I came across when teaching.) The ticket is from http://nicholeheady.typepad.com/capture_the_moment Papertrey Ink. So, see how simple it is? With Tim's techniques and a little imagination, you can't go wrong. Off to create tag number two!
